Lock Rekeying vs. Lock Changing

Rekeying door locks involves alteration to the lock cylinder tumblers so that each of the wafers will be in a different order than before. This is done to keep the same lock hardware and effectively change the keys. Rekeying is done when a new home owner or a business owner moved into a new place or may be concerned that the keys have fallen into the wrong hands. Also for rental property owners, it’s often necessary to have one master key to open numerous door locks. This process is cheaper than replacing new lock hardware.

We recommend changing when your locks are old, damaged, not functioning well, or out of style. It may be the time to replace the entire lock hardware. In addition, there are times when you should consider upgrading your locks to better high security locks which will give you the maximum protection level.
